In newar, there are variety of food that are very delicious and unique. Many non-newar people are also fan of newa cuisine. Moreover people from another country also love newa food.

The most famous food in newa culture is yomari


Another delicious food of newa people is SHAPU MHICHA. Usually, sapu mhicha is made with buff meat. You can find this newa food mostly in kathmandu, bhaktapur and lalitpur.

Chatamari

 INGREDIENTS FOR CHATAMARI (Newari Food) 

 For Rice Flour Base:  1 cup rice flour 1 cup water (depends on consistency) 

 For Toppings:  300 grams chicken  ¼ cup finely chopped onions ½ cup diced tomatoes 1 tsb garlic / ginger paste salt as per your taste 3 Eggs ¼ cup coriander leaves chopped ½ tsb cumin seeds powder 2-3 chopped green chillis


Bara

Ingredients for making authentic Nepali/Newari BARA.

 1. For authentic and Traditional BARA / WO: Black lentils  Salt Ginger/Garlic paste Coriander(Optional)  

2. For meat BARA / WO: Black lentils Chicken meat Salt Ginger/Garlic paste Chilli Powder Coriander(Optional)  

3. For Egg BARA / WO: Black lentils Salt Ginger/Garlic paste Egg


Choila

Talking about Newari dish, choila comes to our mind at first. Choila is one of the most popular dish in Nepal after Dalbhat and MO:MO. Everyone loves Choila in Nepal. Nowadays, there are many varieties of VEG choila as well. That is why, it is really popular among the vegetarian also. Brought up in Newari Family, I have learned many Newari dishes from my parents. Today I will be showing you how to make the choila in Traditional and Authentic method as made by Newars from Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. Traditionally, Choila is made with BUFF meat. As I live in Germany, It is very hard to find Buffalo’s meat. So, I have used Mutton instead. (MUTTON FILLET) is the most tender part which we can get. Hope you like the recipe: Ingredients for CHOILA | CHHOILA are: Ingredients: I have used 700 grams of Mutton Fillet 2 table spoon ginger garlic paste 2 talbe spoon red chili powder 4-5 sichuan pepper cruhsed 1 table spoon fenugreek seed 1/2 table spoon turmeric powder Salt as per your taste 5 table spoon mustard oil 1/2 cup of fresh cilantro/coriander 1/2 cup of fresh garlic leaves 2 raw tomatoes
